the girls' room is almost "done"

the girls' room has been 90% done for about 6 mths now.
there are just a couple of little projects that i needed to finish.
the first one was making something to hang over each bed.
we had wooden initials up, but they just weren't really substantial enough.  i remembered seeing a project awhile back (sorry i didn't bookmark it so i'm not sure who did the original) where she put scrapbook paper in a frame and then put a letter on the outside of the glass.  i really liked that idea so i went out and found a frame at hobby lobby.
i forgot to take a before picture, but it was dark brown with gold details.  i knew i wanted the oval shape so i just spray painted it.

the next problem was that the frame was too big to use scrapbook paper.  i thought i was pretty smart and decided i could use wrapping paper instead.
after way too many trips to different stores in search of the perfect paper i realized that i could use fabric!
(my 3 babies have sucked out all my brains. i know that this would not have taken me 2 weeks to think of before kids)
so i used the styrofoam from inside the frame and roughly cut out the same shape just a little bigger.

then i used my cricut to cut out the letters (this time i did use scrapbook paper)
i used a black stamp pad to darken the edges of the letters so that they would stand out when they were against the busy background.
i used foam squares to attach the letter to the glass so that it would be even more 3d

once it was all put back together here is what it looked like:
