cute flower tanks

i saw these cute fabric flowers(and a full tutorial)here:
http://iamalongfortheride.blogspot.com/2010/03/handkerchief-necklace-tutorial-giveaway.html
they are the perfect kind of sewing project for me.  all you need is fabric scraps, scissors, beads and a needle and thread!
i sat down on the couch and did them while watching the real housewives...i need a distraction when i watch those crazy ladies.
anyway....
i thought they would dress up these tank tops.

i hot glued a pin to the back with a scrap of felt
here are the finished shirts.  not the best picture, but they are super cute and made a great gift for a special little friend.

curious george party

disclaimer: this party was thrown a week after my sister's wedding, when i had a newborn and a week before ella started kindergarden so...
this was not the prettiest party i've thrown, but it was one of the most fun!

the invitation
(see disclaimer above and then go look at everything we made for the wedding!)

she had to have the pinata...

i set up play stations based on different curious george books around our yard:

curious george goes to the beach
i was thrilled to see the kids so excited to listen to the different stories!  they kept grabbing different adults to come and read to them.

curious george and the puppies
(we brought out all our stuffed dogs. the kids had a lot of fun making up games with them.)

New Save the Date

so back in december my cousin asked me to make some special save the dates for her.  she was visiting her fiance's family in ireland and wanted to hand some out while they were there.
since it was a small amount, we were able to do something a little more special:
i used this beautiful champagne shimmer paper as the background.
the layer that i printed on was a vanilla cardstock with a black inked border.
to tie in eamonn's irish heritage,  i used an image of a celtic love knot drawn by my sister cathy.  i embellished this with some pearls.

now that she has decided on a color for her bridesmaid dresses, she asked me to make something a bit more simple for a larger amount of out of town guests.
i found this more intricate knot design and created a save the date that could be professionally printed.
i love that we could stay with the same design but make it work for two different budgets!
